COTA Queensland is assisted by a top-notch group of volunteers from all over Queensland. Though some provide research and administrative support many are Peer Educators.

COTA Qld Volunteer Peer Educators:
  • Facilitate interactive learning sessions with groups of seniors


  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in the issues of quality use of medicines; understanding depression; falls prevention; and health and well-being, , enjoy talking with older people and are keen to be involved as volunteers in the program


  • Communicate clearly and encourage participation in the sessions so that seniors can explore and clarify issues


  • Empower other seniors to take more responsibility for their health care


  • Attend an initial 2.5 days of training, facilitate 6-10 sessions over a 12-month period, participate in some evaluation processes and meet together from time to time for peer support


  • Live in or close by the target area and have no transport difficulties


  • Receive reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses
