COTA Queensland's Peer Education model of training supports participants to develop and then deliver information workshops to their peers.
Falls Prevention - Moving Right Along:
Developed in partnership with the Australian Department of Health and Ageing this falls prevention topic aims to raise awareness of the benefits of
physical activity in reducing falls and highlights strategies that may assist to reduce hazards around the house and local environs.
Falls Prevention - Sweet Dreams:
This topic aims to assist participants to explore the benefits of getting a good nights sleep without the use of long-term sleep medication.
All sessions are free and take 30-60 minutes. Our peer educators know how to make them interesting and interactive, and how to empower older
people to feel comfortable and confident in these issues related to healthy ageing. So participants can be assured of a very worthwhile learning
experience and that they will take away heaps of knowledge, ideas and hand-outs.
The project is funded by the Australian Department of Health & Ageing,
West Moreton Population Health and the Tropical Population Health Unit.
